Adding Flavor To Life :: Coffee-Mate $100 Giveaway

This is sponsored content from BlogHer and Coffee-mate.

CIMG0745I am a details person.  When it comes to the home, it is the details that bring flavor to life.  It is often the details that make everything flow and look the way I want it to. I recently shared about our updated bedroom and how my thrift store chandelier and reused curtains brought our room to a whole new level.   CIMG0740Another example is our mirror in the bathroom and how by switching out just the mirror, it pulled everything together, finally achieving the look I wanted.

I believe that finding just that one right thing…adds flavor to a room.  Finding the chandelier for our bedroom and the mirror for our bathroom finally allowed me to take a deep breath of contentment.  My home is always a work in progress but finding those key items made the room finally feel right.

Another area of details I focus on is the theme of my home.  When people walk in, just looking around the house, what do they learn about our home?  I use a lot of chalkboards to display verses and sayings that share the heart of our home.  CIMG9846I also use a lot of pictures in our home to tell our story.  Pictures show where we have been and give a little glimpse into our life.  CIMG0299One other area of details is the unexpected.  I love finding random everyday items and trying to display them in a unique way that also serves as the “art” of our home…like how I framed coat hangers in our entryway.  They serve as a frugal way to fill up walls but also serve as a conversation piece that makes our home stand out from others.  CIMG6667When people walk into my home, I hope they feel warm and welcomed.  I know that when I walk into homes the first feel of their home sets a tone.  I hope our tone screams love…love we share in our home and for those who enter.  The details in my home add flavor to my life

Like in the home I often need just a little something extra to get myself out of an old rut.  A new chandelier, a new recipe, or a new outfit.  Coffee-mate shares this same get out of a rut vision when it comes to coffee.  They have over 25 flavors to add to your coffee to get you out of that same ol’ same ol’ coffee rut.

728x90_CM_banner_new[1]“Coffee is like life -- it's better when you add your flavor. With a wide variety of over 25 flavors, COFFEE-MATE is the delicious way to personalize every cup.  Head over to Coffee-mate.com to find over 25 ways to add your flavor. Discover what your newest favorite could be!”

Thanks to Coffee-mate and BlogHer, I am pleased to give away a $100 Visa gift card to one lucky reader.  Yeah, you heard me right.  One hundred buckaroos!!!  All you have to do is leave a comment sharing how you add flavor to your life…whether it’s in your home decor or your coffee.  I cannot wait to hear how all you fashionistas spice up life!!!

What a great giveaway!

I add flavor to my home with inexpensive thrift store decor. Books, paintings, and even album covers make fun art and can be picked up for cheap at the thrift store. I also like to break out acrylics, spray paint, and whatever other materials I can scrounge up to make my own art pieces to hang up.

Can I just say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Coat Hanger in the picture frame thing! SO ADORABLE!
I add flavor to my life by taking trips to Disney and getting pictured with Characters :) it keeps me fresh and it keeps me happy and it lets me not think about all the crap in my adult life and allows me to revert back to being a kiddo with no cares in the world but OMG it is PLUTO!!!!! I come home and I look at the pictures and realize that life really is that simple and not to take everything so seriously!

Whether I'm hanging clothes on the line, or planting flower seeds or taking walks with my family down to the river...it is adding flavor to my life and theirs as well!
Thanks for the giveaway! I love your blog and some day I WILL do that framed coat hanger idea of yours! :)

I try to add flavor to our home decor by adding things that hold sentimental value to us and remind us of good times- like shells from our honeymoon or a horseshoe from when my family went to a dude ranch when I was in 5th grade. They're unique items and they hold so many memories for us!

I add flavor to my life by always trying something new! Taking a chance or just an adventure. A trip alone to a new destination, adding a piece of furniture in an unexpected place in my home, or trying a new place to eat and picking something I've never tried off the menu! If you don't add flavor to your life, you live a pretty bland exsistence.

Well, I try to make our home comfortable. I have been in lovely homes, but I feel like I have to "sit still". Ya know...like you might break something if you move! ;)

And to do this, I have lots of mementos of our lives out. I display medals, music scores, etc of our children in various shadow boxes. Changes those, when something "new" happens.
And another way, I decorate for all holidays and seasons. My husband really loves when I do this!

Yayyy for giveaways! Funny that I'm typing this while drinking coffee with Coffemate in it (good old Original).

I add flavor to our home through pictures and art displays. We are fortunate to have family abroad that send us art from our homeland and is nicely display every where you look in our home: In pictures of the homeland, in a collection of little houses on a wall, in paintings etc. They are all unique and I love that no one else would have these pieces. It tells people who we are and where we come from, and I love that!

Adding spice to my decor... well... We try to live simply, but in a stylish manner. I, too, like to thrift (although you can't get the same caliber of goodies in Hawaii as you can on the mainland), so when the JC Pennys stores closed down in Hawaii I bought a couple of men's dept. display tables. We got one dining table height and once coffee table height. So... yeah... thrifting... You'll never know what spice you'll find!

I change photographs of my family seasonally. I enjoy blending the pictures with my seasonal decor. I always have the most current pictures out on display therefore, the others are ready to be put into a scrapbook.

Also, there is ALWAYS coffemate in the fridge for my sister-in-law when she comes to visit.

For my coffee, I’m a plain half & half person now. For my life … the great thing about having an empty nest is having more time for my friends … and though it may sound strange, I’m talking HIGH SCHOOL friends! As we’ve gotten older, the lines that divided us back then have pretty much disappeared. Now we appreciate our differences as much as the things we have in common. My friends flavor my life!

The flavor and spice in my life comes from arguments with my husband. No, not fighting, I mean debating. We love to discuss issues and current affairs, and we love it when we get each other to see sides to the debate that they haven't seen before, and point out errors in each other's reasoning. Our conversations stimulate each other's minds, not (just) bodies! And when things get a bit overheated, making up afterwards is twice as sweet :)

Hmmm flavor to my home? Well we are a family of 7, living in a 3 bedroom apartment - oh did I mention the 5 "kids" are from 16 to 24? Add to that 2 dogs and 1 cat. My home used to be comfy, warm and welcoming, I loved personal touches. NOW, it simply functional - no rhyme or reason (it really gets on my nerves) but I've long since lost the battle of keeping a lovely home. I'm just lucky that it's clean - for the most part. LOLOL One day, when the teens and twenty somethings have moved on - I'll get control of my home back and then all bets are off - if hubby doesn't like it he can sleep in the backyard! ;)

My coffee - well my personal flavor is Sweet Italian Creme - it is the one things EVERYONE in this house knows not to touch. 'Cause if I run out there is no where they all can hide that I can't find them! LOLOL

I love mornings! From the sound of our dog's feet padding in to wake us up, to the sound of my daughter's laughter as she jumps up and down in her crib, to the aroma of God's word breathed in during our morning quiet times - all of these things are the "ordinary" smells, sounds, and flavors that make up our family. When I want to add more flavor to our mornings, I take the time for a run in the backyard with our dog (in my pajamas, of course), rather than letting her out on her own. I open the door to my daughter's room, sing her the "good morning" song, and jump up and down right along with her. I send my way-too-good-for-me husband off with a freshly baked blueberry muffin, and a kiss to go along with it. And I end my quiet time with a Psalm 103-style prayer of thanksgiving to Him who has blessed our family beyond measure.

Wow! All of you are inspiring and giving me ideas!

Ashley, I love how you display your pictures! We have a ton and you have given me a fabulous idea for displaying them. I also like your comment about details. I've been clearing my house of clutter and unwanted/unneeded items so that I can make room for things I love. Thank you for the inspiration!

I've been adding flavor to my flavorless and colorless life several ways: first off, I'm experimenting with paint colors in the kitchen. When we bought our house every room was painted real-estate white. Considering how stressful our lives were at that time, the sterile operating room whiteness was necessary. But now that things have calmed down and a routine has been established, I've gotten more in touch with my Italian heritage and there are parts of my white kitchen walls painted with a variety of shades that remind me of Tuscany, Venice, and Naples. My feeling is that each wall with have a different color! I've noticed that the colors on the walls, the colors in the placemats, the rugs, the plates, everything, are making dinner time better too! It's amazing how decor sets so much more than mood.

The second way I'm adding flavor to my life and complementing my Italian heritage is with my coffee. I've been using Coffee-Mate Italian Sweet Cream and Tiramisu flavors in my coffee. Sitting in my kitchen, drinking these deliciously flavored coffees after a wonderful Italian meal and seeing the colors all around me make me feel like I'm in Italy and not just dreaming of it.

I turn to my creativity to keep me from getting in a rut! I try and celebrate all kinds of special occasions (not just the big ones), and try and make holidays and birthdays especially memorable. I feel most alive when I am being creative!

I add flavor to my home by finding conversation-worthy pieces, usually at an antique shop. Another way I add flavor to my home is quite literally through cooking. I LOVE cookbooks and am always trying out new recipes.

I add flavor to our home sweet home by infusing US into our surroundings. Photographs, souvenirs, inherited items, and so many other things bring our personality to the place & make it ours.

I add some flav-uh by adding color to everything. I love color, and it makes everything feel brand new. I love to re-purpose all my old stuff and transform it with paint. If it doesn't work, then I can always repaint;o)

Awesome giveaway! :) I could really use this gift card for some home improvement projects.

I try to add flavor to our home and our lives by creating. I don't like to keep things the same way for a long period of time. I enjoy moving accessories from room to room and keeping it fresh. I love recylcing by using thrift store and yard sale finds and transforming them into something wonderful. :)

Happy long weekend to you Ashley!

I'm a coffee nut. I will try it all and I'll take my coffee any way I can get it. hot, iced, blended, or in ice cream or cake. Or all of the above. At the same time. Who needs red bull! Mmm, coffee.
