All of my life I have been active and known about health because I was very active in sports growing up. Now as an adult I realize the same concepts apply yet it takes a lot more work. Between the many tasks of life, it is hard to stay on top of what I eat and getting in daily exercise. Yet, it is so important to make these things a priority in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Like many women, I tend to yo-yo when it comes to my health: being really great at it and being really bad at it. So when I get down and need a little inspiration, I look to certain things that help inspire me to continue and press on to lead a healthy lifestyle.
1. Self-Motivation: In my last year of college I was busy finishing school, student teaching, maintaining my job, and fitting in time for my friends and my boyfriend (now husband). I stopped working out and became very lenient in what I put in my mouth. As a result I put on a lot of weight and started down a road of unhealthy habits. Luckily, I was able to slow down after I graduated and refocus my attention on my health. Since then I have found great success in taking control of my health, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, and keeping an eye on what I eat every day. Going through this journey has changed my life and I look back at this experience as a source of self-motivation. It is a reminder of how busy and out of control my life once was and how I do not want to go down that road again.
2. Bob and Jillian: I am a huge fan of The Biggest Loser. There is something about following the lives of people who are at their lowest (when it comes to their health) and to see them prevail to a new balanced person. It is an emotional journey that I can relate to. I tell myself that if they can take control of their health, I can too. People who understand the struggles of maintaining their health are inspiring and challenge me to keep on going.
It is very easy to get caught up in negative thinking. I find that it is a daily fight to think positively and to make good choices. As women we are so self conscious and judgmental over our own bodies. But I find that when I am reminded to focus living a healthy lifestyle, I am able to think more clearly and make better choices that continue to lead me on the right track. It cannot be just about weight. It is a lifestyle. A life of taking care of your body the best way you know how.
Who inspires you to lead a healthy lifestyle?

My pastor's wife! She's the healthiest person I know - always eating right & staying very active. She's battling leukemia which breaks my heart. She's doing it with a smile on her face.
My dad inspires me. He always keeps up with healthy living styles, eat right, exercise daily and volunteers in the community.
People that have lost the weight in real life & kept it off
My mom inspires me. She's battling breast cancer and has totally changed her eating habits. In the process she's lost weight as well. She walks every day. And she's beating the cancer!
I am inspired by our beautiful first lady, MIchelle Obama. Not only is she well educated, accomplished and diplomatic, but she also has a bangin body! She is the epitome of staying healthy under major political and social stress. Michelle O. is a great example for her young daughters, and all young women, on how to become an amazing woman and take care of yourself in the process.
Her campaign to fight childhood obesity is highly relevant in today's world and puts the right pressure on our schools and our community to make good choices for our future generations.
And has anyone seen her ridiculously toned arms?!?!? Michelle Obama, you inspire me! Thank you so much!
What motivates me is the fear of sicknesses like diabetes and high blood pressure that seem to be tied in to how well you take care of yourself. I want to stay healthy!
My role models are more negative - I look at my relatives and know I need to make good choices now so I don't end up like them. So I guess I'm inspired by fear.
My son inspires me
my friend inspires me because she's been through a lot yet is so kindhearted and a great humanitarian - and through all that she still finds time to cook herself organic meals and workout each morning :)

The people where I live inspired me.
I live in a elderly and disabled community.
My family inspires me to stay healthy. What better reason to take care of yourself than to live long and enjoy those you love?

I think I commented in the wrong spot last week!! I don't really have a specific healthy living role model (but Jillian sure is great!). I need to make my family my motivation. I want to stay healthy so I can be around for them. :)
My kids inspired me. Now that our oldest moved back home I realized he is getting the same bad habits we are: eating late, having junk food. This is something WE MUST work at it as a family. I must do better so he can see a healthier life style has to be a priority.
My Dad's cancer journey inspires me to live a healthier lifestyle.
It's definitely my mom. She truly inspires me. She is a strong woman, especially going through what she went through taking care of my dad before he passed away from cancer. She also eats right, gardens, does yoga. She's always telling me what's good for me and, although sometimes it takes me awhile to listen, I always end up following in her footsteps and have never regretted it. :) Awesome post!!
Being able to play with my kids is always my motivation. And being around for them for a long time to come.
My mom inspires me she has alot more patience then me, and she helps me to be a good mom.
My mother was a dancer, PE teacher and swimmer. I grew up in the water, so to speak, and now I swim 3 times a week and love it. Thanks for the contest.
Older people struggling with health problems inspire me to lead a healthier life. I hope to stave off some of the age-related diseases that they're going through by taking care of myself. LPoser1 [at] gmail [dot] com
I just recently had a baby, who is now ten weeks old. I am inspired to stay healthy by my friend who has a two year old and is in better shape now than she was before she got pregnant. She is great inspiration to me...if she can do it, so can I!
I think about my son, and how I want to see him grow up. That's my motivation for staying healthy.

oh, totally agree with the biggest loser. i love that show! my kids really inspire me. wanting to teach them a healthy lifestyle from the start so they just naturally think healthy is a big deal. i know they learn the most by watching what i'm doing so it's important for me to make good choices for them ... and for me.
positive people! my husband! family! creativity! athletes! so you think you can dance(i want to be strong and gracious like those dancers!) the ocean! new healthy recipes!!!
I'm inspired by my late husband. He was a mountain bike racer and special operations soldier. He was the definition of healthy and fit and I hope to be more like him!
My mother. She makes the most wonderful Japanese dishes. They are always on the healthy side and I hope to learn from her!
